- helping you to help your fellow South Australians
Have you ever wished that you could help your local community or make sure your favourite charity gets the funding it deserves? Well now you can. The Community Foundation of South Australia (CFSA) is an independent body which provides support to a host of charitable organisations by enabling individuals, businesses or groups to contribute funds which are then invested and the income allocated to those charitable organisations.
No matter who you are, or how much you wish to give, you can make a difference – that’s because your contribution is pooled with other people’s contributions. So whether you want to give to Medical Research, a Disability Service, Australian Red Cross – or numerous other charities, community organisations, arts bodies or causes – you can be sure your gift will help change people’s lives and contribute to the general wellbeing of South Australians.
Donating money to the CFSA rather than directly to the charity makes sense because:
- With a sustainable named fund the CFSA funds are invested by Public Trustee and the income is paid to the charity in perpetuity. This provides the charity with a regular income that is not dependent on Government grants or the generosity of future donors.
- Public Trustee is frequently independently assessed as being in the top 10 per cent of funds managers in Australia and is likely to manage funds more effectively than an individual charity could do on their own. Funds can be invested in a wide range of investment options, depending on the investment period and timing of required payments to beneficiaries.
- The Community Foundation has low Management Expense Ratios.
- There is the possibility in future of additional income paid to the named fund from the CFSA general perpetual fund.
- Public Trustee, provides information about the Community Foundation of SA to people making Wills which provides the potential for the named fund to receive additional funds from testamentary gifts.
- The establishment of a unique Named Fund provides certainty that the trust fund will only be utilised for the purposes you state and, if required, can be named in honour of the donor.
